How Does It Compare To Other Coffee Makers?
If you’ve used a cafetiere, Chemex, Kalita or Hario V60 dripper before you may be wondering why there’s so much fuss about this plastic coffee brewer. Essentially, it combines steeping with pressure to produce the smoothest coffee you’ll find. The pressure used also allows users to make coffee that resembles espresso by hand. Check out our Aeropress FAQs to find out more about the differences in flavour when using this brewing method. It can also be used to make a variety of different coffees, which isn’t possible with many other coffee makers.
How Does It Work?
The lightweight coffee maker is made of three different FDA approved plastics. This makes it very portable and durable. The main cylinder is accompanied by a plunger with a rubber bung attached. When the filter is applied, the plunger can be used to extract the coffee right into your mug after steeping. For a full step by step guide see our Aeropress brewing guide.
How Should I Grind The Coffee?
To brew using this method you’ll need fine – medium grind coffee. You can buy pre-ground or use a grinder to prepare your own beans. You can choose from a variety of coffees when using this brewing method, including decaffeinated coffee. Getting the right grind is the key to a good cup.
